Mouse trail for Framer – smooth, interactive cursor effectsThe mouse trail component adds a sleek, responsive trail that follows the cursor or touch movement, perfect for adding subtle motion or playful interactivity to your Framer projects. Choose from four distinct styles — line, dots, particles, and pixel — each with smooth animations, adjustable colors, and fine-tuned performance.

Whether you’re creating a modern landing page, a creative portfolio, or an interactive event site, mouse trail brings your design to life with fluid, lightweight effects that run beautifully on both desktop and mobile.

Interactive motion styles

Line – clean, continuous stroke that fades smoothly behind the cursor
Dots – evenly spaced circles for a more playful, bubbly look
Particles – small drifting sparks that scatter and fade for extra motion
Pixel – retro-inspired blocky trail with optional grid snapping

Full customization

Color & gradient – pick a solid color or create a smooth gradient trail
Size & length – control trail thickness, length, and point spacing
Fade & smoothing – adjust how quickly the trail fades and how smoothly it follows the cursor
Particle settings – fine-tune count, size, spread, and drift for dynamic effects
Pixel mode options – set pixel size and toggle snap-to-grid for retro precision
Blend modes – choose normal, lighter, or screen for creative compositing

How it works

Mouse trail tracks cursor movement and stores recent positions to draw smooth, frame-based animations directly to canvas. Each style uses a specialized rendering method — from continuous strokes to particle updates — ensuring smooth motion without slowing down your project. All rendering is optimized for high-DPI displays and touch input, so the effect looks sharp and performs well everywhere.
