Make every cursor movement feel alive

ASCII Cursor Trail is a playful interactive cursor effect for Framer, designed to turn simple mouse movement into a dynamic trail of blocks, symbols, and glitch-inspired motion.

It brings a retro digital feeling to your website without overwhelming the layout — perfect for creative portfolios, studio websites, experimental landing pages, product showcases, and visual-first brands.

Why it works

Most websites feel static. This component adds a small but memorable layer of interaction that makes visitors want to move, explore, and stay longer.

The effect creates a distinctive visual signature: bold ASCII characters, scattered pixel-like blocks, and a responsive trail that follows the user’s cursor with a raw, creative-tech aesthetic.

Best for

Creative portfolios
Design studios
Developer websites
Experimental landing pages
Digital art projects
SaaS/product hero sections
Retro, glitch, code, or editorial-style websites

What makes it special

ASCII-inspired cursor trail
Glitchy block-based motion
Retro computer interface aesthetic
Eye-catching hover and movement interaction
Adds personality without changing your core layout
Great for hero sections, full-page experiences, and creative websites
Easy to drop into your Framer project

Customization ideas

Use it subtly as a background interaction, or make it a bold visual centerpiece. Match the effect with your brand by adjusting the color, density, size, motion speed, symbol style, and overall intensity.

Perfect for creators who want their website to feel different

This component is made for designers, developers, studios, and makers who want more than a clean layout. It helps your Framer site feel more expressive, more interactive, and more memorable from the first movement.
