With the AI vibecode boom, I see many folks pushing for hard-coded sites. It's fine for small biz and 1 man shops, but as soon as you bring in slightly less technical people it's a mess. Every biz. / marketing update now goes though the eng. team who despise every moment.

More progress on the Product Designer Portfolio Template for #framer. Will be including a "get hired" guide as well. Covering the hiring process and what to expect based on my 12+ YOE in the industry.

Crazy, that in 2026, product designers still don't understand they need two portfolios.

1. Your Public website: This is what you share in your job application. Its purpose is to catch the attention of recruiters and hiring managers and get them to say: "yea, I want to talk with this person". Focus on the polish and visuals. Your case studies should be very skimmable since hiring managers spend about 20-40 seconds on average on a site.

2. Your Figma / Powerpoint / Keynote: As soon as a company responds to your application to show interest, then switch to the presentation format for all subsequent rounds. Your goal here is to dive deep and show that you can well.. design! This is the place to focus on success metrics, prototypes, compromises, tradeoffs. (using this format is preferred here because it accompanies your talk track much better)

Building a Product Design portfolio template for Framer. I find that recruiters never use any type of embedded "Contact" form on your site. Just email. So why not make it easy for them?

The "personal" part of your portfolio is just an opportunity to sell yourself based on past successes. Highlighting work with clients (like here) is a great way to give recruiters the info they need, outside of your portfolio pieces.

I hear potential founders say all the time:

"I have an idea but there's someone already doing it."

Perfect. If there are already competitors in your space that's actually a good sign that there could be demand for your product.

How do we work with in house design teams?

With a uncertain requirements and moving targets?

Think this client feedback puts it best.

Does your portfolio OOZE creativity? In a world where fonts like Inter rule, it's refreshing to be building a site that's a bit different.

Building a new Portfolio template specifically for Product Designers. After helping hundreds of junior designers with portfolio reviews it's a project that's near and dear to my heart. Stay tuned.

Two good resources I use for UI colors and fonts:

- For Color I often use: https://tweakcn.com

- For Fonts: I often stick with the popular Inter , Open Sans, webfonts or use https://losttype.com for branding related stuff.

Founders are often tempted to aim for huge idea right out of the gate. Like building the 'a new Facebook' or 'creating a new financial infrastructure.' I It's sexy. but 99% of founders are setting themselves up for failure. Think back… Facebook started in a dorm room and was only available at a single college and you could only post text. That's IT. That was their whole product. One feature that worked well.

Conversely, there are a million dead apps out there that have never been used once. With founders, who were trying to build the "everything app."

If you just shipped new Framer site and wondering why you're not getting any traffic, make sure you have this toggle ON. (it tells search engines to index your site and it's off by default)
